Fidelity/Lisco holders use just one single light trap so with half a dark slide in the holder there is a chance that light could leak in right at the point the dark slide ends.

So before I go and cut up a perfectly good darkslide I want to make sure what everyone is talking about. Basically cut a darkslide in half and leave 1/2" on the end. Like this?

That's pretty much it. I just put the dark slide in a holder and traced the opening onto it with pencil. I cut out half of that, less 3/32" on the edge in the middle of the opening so there's 3/16" margin between frames.

Can't buy both Camulet and 'Dorff splitters, rather than cutting an existing one?

Thanks Scott, I was thinking of trying to find that post or that diagram on my computer. Notice that I leave much more than a 1/2 inch for the light-trap. Leaving more keeps the strength up of the modified darkslide.

The first three are carbon prints, the fourth is a platinum/palladium print
