Update from Jobo RE the CPP3 at photokina

This is a repost from APUG:
Just got this email today with some more info regarding the projected Jobo CPP3 processor scheduled to be shown at photokina:

JOBO introduces CPP-3 processor at photokina 2012.

The family of analogue photographers enjoys a steady membership
around the globe and pro-labs are continuing to decline in numbers.
The new CPP-3 processor offers repeatable high quality film
processing, using the tried- and-tested technology of rotary processing:
    • Automatic agitation
    • Automatic temperature control
    • Freshness of chemical solutions (one shot processing)
    • Economical usage of solutions, for intermittent work
    • Processing time control
CPP-3 is an improved version of JOBO’s Colorprocessor CPP-2. It is
compatible with all JOBO film tanks and print drums and suitable for all kinds of silver halide films
and prints. With the JOBO Lift mounted on the processor it makes for easy and clean handling of
working solutions. These solutions can be conveniently held ready for use, in six individual one litre
bottles, each positioned securely in the water jacket.

Sounds great! Too bad the price is somewhat high though...

A bit costly but it's nice to see they're still at it.

Yeah costly but think of this way - 400 rolls and its paid for, in most cases it will be paid for far before that.
You will be kinder to the environment with a smaller carbon footprint of not shipping your film, and not using high volume wasteful commercial processors working at 10% capacity...

Besides - where else can you you do 7X17 sheet film if not your own personal processor?

    That's the problem.

By including every bell and whistle in the package, you're forcing customers to buy things they don't need or want, or more likely...

to not buy it at all.

That's a really stupid marketing decision. I expect they'll change their mind eventually, if it lasts that long.

You do not need any bells or whisteles (not sure how you process film with a whistle...?)

Only the appropriate drum for your needs. Bells are always a useful thing to have in a darkroom, especially when you get hot, and want to call for some cold refreshing iced tea

BTW forgot to mention that i can try to answer any questions regarding that press release if any one has any.

Also - forgot to mention that the Jobo system is modular, so much so that with the right drum one can process roll film, sheet film on reel (4X5) and ulf up to 11X14, or possibly larger wit ease.

I have two worn out CPP2s and am one of the first on the list for the new one. I've been nursing these worn out machines too long and will be happy to have the new one.

    Wow, it is expensive.
Though, I'm glad they are still at it.
