I have a 4x5 Auto Graflex and want to get a wooden Graflex tripod for it but I don't know anything about the different models. Can anyone tell me which tripod no. Would be best for this camera?
Thanks

A Crown No. 1 seems awfully light. I've used a Crown N0. 2 a little for 4x5 and 5x7. It weighs 65 ounces and extends up to 4 2/3 feet. The Crown No. 3 is five ounces heavier and extendss to 5 1/2 feet. Both have a 6 inch top. The Crown No. 4 weighs 90 ounces and also extends to 5 1/2 feet. Its top is is 6 1/2 inches
Thanks Jim,
I think I should be looking for a no 4 since my lenses get a bit heavy on the autograflex.
skuuterboy,
Can you post a photo of your Auto Graflex?
Does it look anything like this one?
The No. 4 is the one you want. The others, No. 1 and 2, are spindly jokes suitable for holding a cardboard disposable 35mm only. Which makes sense because they were built to hold cardboard box Brownies! Never seen a No. 3. The No. 4 is a good size for up to 8x10.

skuuterboy,
Interesting looking modifications that you have made onto your Graflex. It looks unique exposing the wood and polishing the metal pieces.
I have not had the chance to use mine, as I really haven't tested the focal plane shutter's speeds just yet.

Joselsgil,
I have an Auto Graflex just like yours. I like the fact that it's nice and light, just about like a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 in weight.
rjmeyer,
Have you ever removed the lens board on your Auto Graflex? I can't tell if the lens board in mine is glued in or held in by screws. I don't want to damage this old camera trying to remove the lens board. I need to make and install another lens board that will fit one of my barrel lenses.
