Do you own a Sinar 8x10 to 5x4 reducing back?

If so, please tell me: can you use this functionally to shoot film and Polaroids or is there some problem with the regular film holders? Every reference I see only talks about using it for Polaroids, never a mention of shooting film with normal holders.

Would appreciate your feedback!

I've never heard of a back that could shoot polaroid holders and not regular cut sheet holders, always the other way around if their was an issue.

I think I just answered my own question: I own an 8x10 P2. I want to use it to shoot 4x5 wide angle and was trying to get out of buying the whole back plus frame plus bellows conversion shebang... But I'm guessing I won't have the movement or the bellows compression using a conversion back.

I believe your thinking is backwards on this.

For any given lens FL, you'll get a much wider view on 8x10 than you will on 4x5 (assuming the lens will cover 8x10).

For example, the Nikkor SW 120/8 is a significant wide-angle on 8x10, but only sightly wider than normal on 4x5.

I've used a 4x5 reducing back on an 8x10 P2 before. Nice combo. And if you primarily shoot 8x10, then the occasional pola/fujiroid test print(since no mo' 8x10 polaroid ) to check contrast when setting up a new shot.

I have a 4x5 reducing back for my 8x10 Sinar P as well as the 4x5 back and bellows, and the main downside of the reducing back is that the rear tilt and swing axes fall outside the frame, so you lose the feature of Sinar P tilts. On the other hand, if you want to shoot 4x5 with a long lens, you can use a longer 8x10 bellows with the reducing back. For wide 4x5 lenses, the reducing back isn't so useful.
