    Gitzo geared center column question

I have a Gitzo geared center column (bought new a few months back) and I can't figure out how to fold down the crank arm on the center column. It sticks up and prevents me from zipping my tripod bag closed . . . anyone know how or if these cranks fold down? Thanks . . .

Is there a black ring where the crank pivots? You should be able to push it in to lay the crank down.

Some of the larger ones use a knurled nut on the end of the crank where it goes through the axle

Mine is 25 years old but doesn't have any special trick to folding down. How weird. My sympathies. Maybe yours got damaged somehow?

It looks like it should push straight up. There's a pin through the crank arm that is set into the crank shaft itself. If nothing's bent or obstructing movement just give it a gentle nudge.
