Um, you mean 210, don't you?

Agree, mine is excellent too but it is a little flary, needs a hood. I retired it in favor of a 210/7.7 dagor type that's not quite as sharp but is much less flary.

    I do indeed.

I haven't experienced the flare as you have, So far I find it pretty excellent.

Well, I was with you until I shot mine against that 210/7.7 dagor type. Same everything (subject, illumination, film (E100G), apertures, and shutter) and the f/7.7 whatsit gave better saturated colors. The GRII has a little veiling flare. Still an excellent lens, IMO, but has to be used a little carefully in situations where, in particular, the sun isn't far outside the frame.

That said, mine isn't perfectly spotlessly clean inside. I had another one that was dirtier but shot as well so I'm not sure the internal schmutz is a problem.

I have 210 & 260mm and use them on 8x10 they are good performers! But I use it with a lens shade!

I found one on eBay for $8. To mount it I glued it to a spare 4x5 lens board that I had at home. The lens is uncoated and hazy/fogged up which makes for a very dreamy and "flare-y" atmosphere over a super sharp image.

It was unexpectedly very fun to play with such a beat up lens.

I made a video of it if you want to see the results and the experience of shooting with this shutterless lens.

That was a pretty cool video, indeed it looks very sharp and definitely beats the competition of the other 150mm lenses that cover 8x10 in terms of weight...

I admire your courage too, if indeed it has fungus like you say, I would not want it to be closer than a mile away from my other photographic materials.... :-)

    Thanks for sharing this.

That is a good point... I never thought about contamination of my other material. Definitely to take into account. I am not 100% sure that it is fungus, but it a patchy haze that is worrisome.

Anyway I discovered that the lens is coated, contrary to what I said in the previous post.

Fungus can be killed, so it's entirely a solvable problem.

    Or possibly a solvent problem.

Good old fashioned original Listerine has worked for me. Not the newer flavored ones.
