    What 4x5 Camera Is This?

I'll be putting this camera up for sale in the near future but I'm wondering what camera it is?

There's no branding of any kind on it and it's very light-weight. I have called it a Nagoaka all the years I've had it yet I see an ebay sale that looks exactly the same and the seller calling it a Tachihara, not that ebay sellers are necessarily authoritative in any way.

Here's an image of mine. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/_MG_7873.jpg

The ebay look-alike is here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tachihara-4x...item3cbfc44419

    Thanks for any help!

If you think it's a Nagaoka it probably is. The difference between these two cameras is slight cosmetically speaking. The hardware is usually brass for the Tachihara but I've also seen some with chrome. A third maker is Osaka and their cameras also have a similar appearance.

Here's a discussion on Tachihara and Nagaoka:

Thanks Jan. The "brass" is more like an anodized surface although the knobs appear to be brass. I came to the naming of this via guess work back before the internet. I don't recall where I bought it but the seller didn't know the brand either.

it is a Nagaoka as mentioned in the thread which was referenced in the previous post in which I was also a participant.

You will often see it called something else like a Tachihara or a Wista on ebay and in other selling threads. Maybe I am being a bit cynical but my suspicion as to why they are often mis-categorized is because the cameras with the alternate name (to which they have been mis-categorized) typically sell for more.

Thanks Jan that sums it up for me! Esp. this pic http://www.largeformatphotography.in...4&d=1323228393 which is claimed to be a Nagoaka. Looks just like mine so I'll stick w/that name.
    Thanks again.

Thanks Frank. From those threads (and the hundreds spinning off from them) I saw a Tachihara and it is similar but details in the metal were definitely different than mine. Mine has the 3 screws in the lens board so my guess it isn't the Calumet.

FWIW the ebay look-alike doesn't look like any Tachihara I've seen. Not that I've seen every Tachihara of course but I've owned two of the later ones - circa 1994 - and a good friend owned a much earlier one with the nickel or chrome plated metal, circa early or mid-1980s I believe.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you do criticize them you'll be
a mile away and you'll have their shoes.

It doesn't look like my Nagaoka. A major difference is that mine (1975) has a rack/pinion drive at front and back of the bed.

It's a Calumet Wood-Field. I have one and your photo matches mine in every detail.
