    The Result! B&J Commercial View

I recently bought a Burke and James 8x10 commercial view off ebay. But I hated the ugly paint so I decided to do some restorement. Here's the result, enjoy:

    Big improvement!!

I had one of those, in grey. Quite a good camera.

Looks great! That was pretty nasty before; they are capable of looking good in gray when clean, but natural wood looks better.

I understand why you did it, mines in much better condition then that and I just cannot seem to bring myself to do it. It looks like you kept the bellows on when stripping the camera, how that go, any problems tip for others?

I have one in 5x7. At first I planned to strip it, then thought I would paint it (as it is already primed), and finally just decided to clean it, leaving the original finish and patina for purposes of historical preservation (and laziness). Took four hours to clean, but now its fine.

Here is one of my B&J 8x10's looking nice in gray. If it's clean and the finish is good, gray is acceptable color.

Here's a blond one. Looks a lot different than the stripped one.

Your "brunette" B&J looks great too; a little more classic or traditional looking.

I looked at that one a couple of weeks ago, fast work for very nice results. Amazing someone thought of the grey paint made the camera look better.

Wow, looks great. I am planning on stripping my B&J as well. Did you strip it with the bellows attached?
