Jim is by far my favorite seller of LF items. He matches or beats competitor's prices, his item descriptions are conservative, and he is a pleasure to deal with as a person. I have purchases more LF stuff from him than any other dealer. He has talked me out of buying things from him that he felt I would be unhappy with. How many sellers do that?

Capocheny: I purchased a used 450C from Jim years ago. I just called and asked if he had one, and he did not. I asked him to keep his eyes open for one. A few months later, he called after he got a beautiful example in the store. He gave me an excellent price. I think you will be very happy with that lens. I use it with 4x5, 5x7, and WP. It gets more use on my 4x5 than I ever dreamed it would.

    Hello,

Remember, this Saturday, November 26, 2011, is "Buy Just One Thing from a small business Saturday".

I'm sure if we all took care of our 'mom & pop' stores,

    they'ed appreciate the sale,

and the opportunity to give us the personalized service,

    we all dream about,

by keeping them around a little while longer...

    Hi Dave,

Good to hear from you and I hope you're doing well...

Yes, I'm looking forward to shooting with the new glass. It's replacing a huge beast (19" Red Dot Artar) and I'm sure it'll be a lot easier lugging this lightweight around.

I had a similar situation as yours in my dealings with Jim. After several years of searching and searching for a 5x7 conversion kit for the Arca Swiss, lo and behold, Jim came up with one that was in mint condition and the price was pretty darn reasonable.

Gotta love a dealer who enjoys his work!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Dave... to you and your family!

    Cheers
    Life in the fast lane!

The Midwest website has a curious entry in large format film "Kodak Fortepan 400 4"x5"

    Hi Dave,

I dug up a 5x7 reducing back for the 8x10 and shot with it for quite awhile while the A/S was relegated to the back burner. Consequently, I was really pleased when Jim found the conversion kit.

Even though I enjoyed shooting with 4x5, I can say honestly that I was never really, really comfortable with the format. For the way I see... 5x7 just seems to work better for me.

So, yes, the 5x7 conversion kit is sooo sweet!

    Cheers

Jim has provided me with all sorts of equipment and he has always been extremely helpful, with good prices and totally honest. I thoroughly recommend him. I just wish he was located in the UK!

Here from Brazil I'm also quite happy dealing with MidWest Photo, where I find very personal and careful attention, something not so usual when I deal with other american stores.
Never talked or made any contact directly with Jim, but Anna who manages web orders is trully very nice and helpful too.
