Hello from Saint-Petersburg!

For three days and three nights I was awake, playing with a new toy. Linhof Kardan Master L 13x18 !!!

Format completely kills all the early ideas about photography. Little by little begin to reconstruct my universe. Happy to join the community of crazy people.

What photographic genre(s) do you specialise in ? You've got some great architecture in your beautiful city, I'd love to return with my LF camera one day.

... about 9 years I worked with medium format. Basically it was a landscape and architecture. And the portrait. But what kind of landscape and architecture can be discussed without a large format?! Now I also have started to learn a still life.

In St. Petersburg not some, but a lot of beautiful architecture. You are wellcome! ))

And I'm going in July to the Black Sea and Caucasian mountain with the new camera!

Indeed, so much wonderful architecture that I never got the time to visit Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo, Gatchina or any of the other great Palaces outside the city.

And soon you will have the White Nights - it must be a spectacular time to photograph the city.

Welcome to group therapy, Anton! Don't know how you held out so long on LF with all those pretty Onion Domes to be shot...you'll be able to make good use of the new linhof!

You will soon discover that you started with the right format - 13x18 is the smallest where you can see the whole ground glass with both eyes, in both orientations. That makes it (for me at least) a lot easier to compose on that than on 4x5" - and on 18x24 and larger, you have to move your head to see it all.

O, ya! Gatchina and Pavlovsk are my favourite! There are also some old bridges with amazing details for macro.

Already! And this is realy unbelievable time... but it's a little bit dungerous to mate fotos with large format, though ... with a pair of friends - this is not a problem

I also noticed that this is the last large format that is convenient for the human body at work. For example, a sheet of 13x18 is still possible to take one hand (with sufficiently long fingers). It is comfortable to loading, comfortable to develope, watch and evaluate the negatives, etc, etc
