    oXYgen Scan 2.6.1 to 2.6.3

I just upgraded my iMac OS x from 10.4.x to 10.5.8. Now I guess I will have to upgrade oXYgen from 2.6.1 to 2.6.3 to accommondate the new OS. Not sure what the cost is for the upgrade (I have an email into Bruce Turniff at Kodak) but other than investing in another computer or pay for software, does anyone have any suggestions how best to proceed?

Hi, I have some experience with Oxygen scan in its various versions. My basic observation is that the functionality has not changed - newer versions simply added basic (and I mean basic) support for the latest O/S.

Here is one approach that could work: you can make a dedicated OS 10.4 partition on our current machine and boot OS 10.4 when you want to run your current version of Oxygen. I haven't done this in a while, but it was not that hard to accomplish. Between Mac forums and some good online documentation, you should be able to get through it.

Contact Foto Care and expect to pay $950 for the upgrade. Also expect to wait about 4 months before kodak decides that shipping you a 38 cent disc is worth $950.

An alternative to George's suggestion of a bootable 10.4.x partition, if partitioning your main drive is impractical, would be to set up a bootable external drive running 10.4.x and your current version of oXYgen.

If you have the space, a G4 dedicated to the scanner and an LCD monitor is the best option, and will cost far less than $950. Transfer files over a network, or use USB disks.

I would agree with the bootable older op sys solution. I upgraded mine a couple of years ago as part of an agreement that kodak anD I had when I purchased the scanner. It took two years to get them to respond and when they did they were crybabies about it.

As mentioned above they wanted about a thousand dollars and the only difference I could see was the compatibility with the newer OS.
