    Any good LF workshops around?

Michael A. Smith and Paula Chanlee's 3 day workshop, just north of Philadelphia, was money well spent for me last year. About $500 for intense 3 day program. It's about "vision" not focus and exposure and tilting the lens and that kind of stuff. Highly recommended.

Based upon my personal experience, one can not do better than Chuck Farmers workshops and he(Chuck) is one hell of a nice fellow as well. I believe that he has one coming up shortly in Death Valley...'wish I could go! http://www.charlespfarmer-photo.com/

You didn't really say what kind of workshop you are interested in. Some are highly technical and darkroom oriented while others are just travel adventures with with other photographers and a noted photographer or two. If you are looking for expanding your skills in the darkroom try one of Bruce Barnbaums workshops in Granite Falls, Washington. I have not had the opportunity to take one yet, but my girlfriend has. The combination of reading Bruce's book and new techniques brought back by my girlfriend has greatly improved my prints. I will hopefully find the time to take the week long workshop myself next fall.

Doug, I assume from your comment you have "shot a few 4X5s" that you, like me are somewhat new to this format. And in regards to the response above, you should take a close look at some of the workshops and their respective "plans" before deciding. My "research" has shown that most workshops do one thing but very few do it all. Meaning, one will focus on exposing film/camera work and the other will focus on developing/printing. In the case of the latter, some only do demos and you might get to print once. So ask a lot of questions before siging up because you like New Mexico. Check out this web site http://www.apogeephoto.com/apogee.html Look in the left margin and click on "Educate yourself". There are probably 200 listings of schools and institutions that can teach you something. Sometimes you can find a great LF class at a nearby Jr College. Good Luck.
