Yes - Trim your paper the size of film, load holder, expose like film (though speeds are very slow, ie. ASA <6) - develop like paper...

    Thanks,
    Dan
some papers are much faster than 6iso...

    Try and error!

some papers are blue sensitive, others can be greenish and blue sensitive ...
time of day and type of light matters too ...

Is there a way to estimate the speed of the paper?

    hi barry ...

    sure ...

    just take a sheet of paper ( 4x5 )
and cut in strips like a test strip you would use
in your darkroom to make prints,
but put it in your film holder.
( or even better just use a few sheets of 4x5 paper so you can SEE better )
make a bunch of exposures from asa 1 - 25 or so ...
process your paper in the same developer and either scan or contact print your results.

    have fun !

Since film is thinner than paper, sometimes the film holders don't want to let you slide the paper in easily. You can either tape the film in in that case, or you could take your worst film holder and lift the metal tabs up a slightly that hold the film in.

    never had that problem...

But tape is good.... if your cassette is made for glass negs or of your cassette is too big for your papers..

Perhaps a stupid question (quite likely actually) but how exactly do you contact print from a paper negative?

It is very simple: place your paper negative, face down, on an unexposed paper - put some glass on top to get good contact, and then expose as it was a negative.

And the opacity of the paper negative isn't a problem? That's what baffled me.

Regardless, I'm curious to try this myself - the examples here are wonderful.
