Things to check include: could be as simple as a lighter background making it appear darker, e.g. if you are using the default forum skin. Less likely, but could be that you are viewing this with a web browser that isn't color-profile aware. But I think all the major browsers are nowadays. Or if you're currently viewing on a different device, could be your main monitor is too bright.

I'm pretty sure it's just the brightness up a bit too much on my monitor. I just changed to Lightroom from CaptureOne Pro and did a direct upload to SmugMug so hopefully nothing there.

@baro-nite: Thanks for your help and compliment! It was the display brightness as well as an export issue, I think its fixed now. This is my first Black and White export since changing to Lightroom.

This is the picture of a sofa in an old abandoned building near Lake Maggiore, Italy. The building was built around a middle age tower. It contains some interesting objects and rooms. Here an example:

Thanks Trent. This is from a 4x5 (Portra) neg. I'm not committed to color enough to order a bunch of 5x7. I shoot color film occasionally, but it always makes me feel like a bit of an impostor. :-)
