yes me too, Ben, Steve has 'a very good eye' - this kind of image makes me consider picking up a 75mm lens in the future, in the meantime my 90mm Nikkor should be getting more use

That 58 mm really gives you a lot of view. Have you tried a crop at sides and bottom to bring the image more back to the palace itself. Might be stronger?

Thanks for your advice! My initial reaction when I opened the scan for the first time was also 'it needs cropping'. Shall try cropping off the bottom...

Many thanks! The 47mm would be even wider. You could probably stand right next to the hedge and get the same content.

XTOL seems to be providing less grain and flatter photos (easier to scan), which suit architecture/landscapes better.
