Buildings don't come much older than this... the Teatro Antico di Taormina, Sicily. A couple of brickies and they'll soon have it back together.

Great image! Love the comment about a “couple of brickies”. How true. Gave me a chuckle.

Just amazing. I hope those structures stay around for a lot longer for people to enjoy.

How as shooting LF in that area? Did you have problems setting up tripods and stuff?

Oh yes. Tripods are forbidden in all of Sicily's antiquities sites and they're red hot about it. This was supported on a chair back, the chair being sat on by the very helpful but unfortunately-being-watched-by-his-boss attendant. He was most sympathetic, but wouldn't let me put the tripod up.

That's why I have no photos from the Valley of the Temples; they wouldn't even allow the tripod in the area.

Since when are tripods required for LF shots (perhaps for 8x10 or larger)?

Millions of shots have been done with 4x5 press cameras hand-held, including a lot by me.

If you believe you can, or you believe you can't... you're right.

    Travelwide 4x5 would fix that.

Indeed the tripod is not necessary to get an image. It is, however, necessary *to me* to get the images that *I* want.

    Your mileage may vary.
