Basic Vitax question....

I have a Vitax no.3 portrait lens that I haven't mounted as yet. While I'm waiting for a new lens panel to do this, can anyone chime in with any experiences with this type of lens.

Is it a Petzval (with a swirly signature), or an altogether different beast?

it is a petzval. it may or may not swirl. it all has to do with the distance of the photographer, subject and back ground. none swirl on tight portraits.
