I have a couple of wool hats that a good for shading or if needed to shelter a camera on a tripod, from sudden rain.

Both have wide brims, both are Woolrich, one is a Western style hat and a good hunting/knock around/shelter your eyes/glasses, article of outdoor wear, and, lens shade/camera protection if needed.

    IMO.

With 8x10" the dark slide, with 4x5" everything, umbrella, hands, hat, myself.
I own the gear, but those don't make masterpieces. My everyday experience.
