Fortunately the iris mechanism is there - just needs new leaves!

This was a nice set for wet plate. The perfect lens and a good selection of original backs and plate holders.

Yep, I checked the lens. Only the aperture leaves were missing. But I don't know how to get the similar leaves because the diameter of the barrel is so big.
I will refinished the vintage camera if I found similar camera pictures because it also missed some metal parts.

My gut feeling tells me that the bigger the missing leaves - the easier it is to make replacements!

I know that there is a recent thread on laser cutting of leaves - but this is not for me. I have a current project where I have the same problem with the iris on a Cooke series II. I have purchased sheet brass (0.010" thickness) which I will cut to size. My gut also tells me that the placing of the pins doesn't have to be that precise! More in DIY in a month or so!

I used to cut fully exposed color sheet film to instead of 2 missing leaves of my VITAX 16in lens. It's quite good.
However, I did not decide to make all the aperture of Dallmeyer 3B.
The fixing of the pins may be difficult.

I read the above answer 24 hours ago and looked at the lens, and quickly determined it was not the soft version, but didn't want to interfere. But then I thought I better, because people would get pretty upset buying 12" Velostigmats thinking they are all diffusable, to discover the one they bought is not.
Jeez, I was in Louisville week before last and didn't have time to go see Chuck! I would have liked to see the lens.

This lens does not appear to have the diffusion ring.
