I have a 12-inch f/4.5 Rembrandt Portrait that's just a single-coated Tessar. It's a nice Tessar, but just a Tessar. It's the slower "Super Rembrandt" that might qualify as a soft focus lens. I've been watching for a long time, and never seen one...

Here's what you may have, Russ. What's the aperture on yours?

I've come across two of them. One was a 10" that had a wide open aperture of f3.5 ( even though it said f8 on the info ring on the front of lens). The other was a 14" in an alphax shutter that had a wide open aperture of f5.6. Both were labeled as "super" rembrandts...neither matched the maximum aperture in that B&J Super Rembrandt add. My guess is that they slapped the rembrandt label on any rebarrelled surplus lens that was reasonably fast.
