The Series IIA that sold has the turn for soft focus writing in french; so it must have been originally sold for the french market... While the current listing is a different lens with all the engravings in English. Likewise you can tell the 15" knucklers are different as one is a Series II while the current offering is a IIB.

The same buyer also purchased two other Cookes from the seller about a year earlier. I wont tell you his name, but all five Cookes went back to their original country of manufacture (where the fish come with a side of chips).

Interesting... If the buyer put out a "wanted" ad, noting they'd pay that kind of price, I'm sure they'd have their choice of many more Cooke Portrait Lenses.

I picked up a series VI Cooke portrait 13 inch f5.6 8x10 lens. glass is clean and all elements unscrew easily. Barrel is a little dinged but glass is cleaner than advertised. iris and soft focus move smoothly. $550.00 It was purchased on this forum. Seemed a fair price to me, but I am definitely not a cooke expert.

None of the Dallmeyer C series lenses are the modified rear pair design - that is, not soft lenses. Just very restricted depth of focus!
A very attractive Cooke series IIB F4.5 15". 131794429206 for 2618 usd.
