Tracy, thanks. I am in contact with Sandy. Looking at some walnut holders.

Dave, I got two holders from Sandy in walnut and they are beautiful. Now I've almost got the rest of the camera designed.

Do 14x17 holders hold Xray film as well, or just 14x17 traditional photo film?

I'd think it would be an awesome size for contact printed portraits.

X-ray film is no problem!! At $70.00 a box of 100 it is not hard to imagine doing more than one exposure at a set up. You know ULF bracketing! I do need to save for more holders though. I agree that contacts at this size will be nice. I put the 11x14 holder on top of the 14x17 and the 14x17 has just a bit more presence.

Tracy, the light traps on Fidelity 11x14 "film holders" and "medical cassettes" are identical - the only difference is the name imprinted on the holders - I have both and they are perfect twins

    Interesting 14X17 Film discussion

I have 3 NOS 14X17 Fidelity full frame that do not indicate Medical

I bought 2 others from Calumet Chicago, later sold them NOS

I got my current 3 NOS still in box in a trade here on LFPF

I did offer them for sale during our darkness, but no bites, so I removed them

and now NOT for Sale as I have a plot

I highly recomend reading this entire thread

I have ONE 14x17 holder from Sandy King. It's a beautiful piece of art. I've used it mainly for XRAY film. I was planning on getting a couple more holders, and some HP5, but that never happened since the price of LF and ULF went through the roof... I still shoot XRAY, though!

I have two 14x17 regular holders and two 14x17 that have been modified internally to accommodate 12x16 positive or negative paper for in-camera photography.

All four from Lotus View Camera.

I think that's where the one I was given came from. I have 200 sheets of x-ray. Haven't shot any because I don't have a camera...but one of these days I would like to build something, or maybe 3d-print a fixed-focus camera, or...
