    New from Houston, Texas

I found this forum by accident.

I was googling the Ansel Adams found negative story and found this place.

I assumed I was still the only one in the world that still shot film let a lone large format.

I look forward to seeing that I am not the only one that prefers to hold a large transparency or negative in my hand rather than a CD Rom.

Oh, I quite agree. Without the aid of a computer, a LF transparency is much more beautiful

Welcome to group therepy, Philip. You have indeed found a site where film is spoken as a first language, though many here are also conversant in digital! There is a large contengent hanging around here from your neck of the woods...I think they even get togeather now and then for a shoot. What kind of equipment are you using?

If I have to fly anywhere I have a Crown Graphic, if I am driving I will lug my Sinar. On trips I take digital pictures with my Sony point and shoot all the time especially in the middle of the day. 35mm with my Olympus usually 1/2 a roll a day and one or two 4x5's a day depending on conditions and if where I am at demands it.

There are quite a few LF photographers lurking in TX.

Check out the TX photo forum "darkroom" section. Some Houston LF photographers post there.

    Re: New from Houston, Texas

I spend part of my year in the Houston area, doing commercial photography work for various shipping, oil services, and energy companies. Most of that work is done on 4x5 gear, though sometimes medium format. Every image used later becomes digital through scanning, so the client only gets image files. The vast majority of my work is done on transparency films. While definitely not like the expectation of modern working photographers, there are a few of us still doing work this way; instead of gear, we bring ideas.

    Ciao!
