    Hi Richard,

Is this THE Richard White? In any event, welcome to the forum from another Oz resident.

My vertical washer only goes up to 12x16 so for 16x20 I use a Kodak tray siphon that I recently liberated from the USA to the free world via Ebay. They crop up there regularly at a reasonable price if you keep your eyes open. Alternatively, try posting a "wanted to buy" add here in the classified section of this site.

The tray siphon works a charm but does use a fair bit of water.

    Cheers

Thanks to all who helped try to answer my question. I only wanted one for convenience. It was more for my holding tray.I have vertical washers that work a treat.
Use only fibre paper so they are a must. No spelling mistakes this time. Cheers (the) Richard

Richard: The Kodak tray siphon comes up on the auction site often enough. Shipping to Oz might put the cost up too high, but the device itself should be cheap enough.

It was a ' tray Syphon ' . Surely print washing with a ' Vertical Washer ' is the way to go as one can continue to add prints ( up to the max. number of slots ) and the last one in does not contaminate the ' first-one in' .

They were also damned expensive for what they were (at least in the UK)

I don't believe that published tests will agree with you.
On at least two occasions Petersen's Photographic magazine ran a series of test on print washers. The tray siphon actually was more effective than several of the vertical washers tested and the rotary washers did not even come close to its efficiency.

I have a vertical washer, but use tray siphons for prints too large or printed on paper too fragile to be placed in a vertical washer. Residual hypo tests continue to show the tray siphon is very effective.

    Dear "The" Richard White.

You have some beautiful work on your site!

You may not really need to go that route, I use the exhaust water from my vertical print washers into my holding tray. Granted this only works for prints destine for the washer and not into other baths, but if that is the intent, I have been doing this for years to cut my water use and it works well.

    Best regards,

    Allen
