Thread: Is this lens coated?

    Cool Is this lens coated?

I have a Wollensak triple convertible, series IA Raptar, No A55574. It looks good, but I can't tell if it is coated.

    A source for that?

    Thanks

    Herb, does it look coated?

AFAIK no one has ever managed to work out the relationship between Wollensak lenses' serial numbers and dates of manufacture. That said, I have (or had) some coated Wollies whose serial numbers did not begin with letters and all of my "youngest" Wollies have serial numbers that begin with letters. So I think your lens had better be coated.

By the time the Raptar name was graced, they all were coated. Look for blue reflections.
