    extra diffusion through balsam seperation?

saw this lens on ebay and am shaking my head a bit. Is this lens (a Gundlach Hyperion Diffusion f4 11x14) so rare to warrant the price even in the condition it is in?

I would have thought that the condition of the studio shutter was more important! Gundlach often had problems with their balsaming. If the lens mounting in both cells is sensible, this is a $15 repair job and you will end up with an objective that is better than any other Hyperion worldwide! If there isn't any damage to surfaces, of course! Even though this is a big one to mount, there is a growing interest for dedicated classic soft lenses as well as self-designed soft lens experiments.
