Yes. I've seen several fine little photographic forums disappear as members gradually drop out. However, we don't want it to become bloated with non-constructive blather.

This is why we might think twice before being too negative about new large format products. The truth is, there have always been problems. The most expensive camera I ever bought new, a Wisner 8x10, had serious issues, including cracked wood. I saw someone looking at a brand new Wista in the store. He turned a knob gently, and it broke....Over and over old-timers seem to want to crush any enthusiasm for something new because they want to feel superior. 'Look at this new tripod head! It looks terrific!' "Bah. if you care about image quality, you won't use a tripod head. Ignoramus!' Repeat ad nauseum.

Even that seems like a tall order to me, though I might very well be wrong. I don’t know how large format is “doing” in general.

Nor do I. Photography in general and LF in particular remind me of the hobbies my cohort had before we passed puberty. We collected things: coins, stamps, insects, ... We did things: ham radio, model airplanes, kept fish, ... A few of us stuck with our hobbies after we discovered sex, most didn't.

Today's kids have hobbies but they're not the ones I grew up around.

My only 8x10 has been stowed away in a closet for over 10 years, unused. Despite that, this is my first come-to photo site. Most of the discussions pertaining to large format are also applicable to other film sizes and even to digital photography. The ability of the operator is more important than the size of his equipment.
