    Ken,

I love the subtle tones in that print, and the higher tonal values seem to be very smooth. Was that out of the developer?

I am still working on the article on two-bath Pyrocat-HD. But my progress has been much delayed due to travel and workshop commitments. Perhaps in early April I will be able to finish the tests I need to do to explain the sensitometry.

This photo was made today during a nasty snow storm with high very winds. I shot right into the blowing snow, and had to clean the snow off the lens just before the exposure.

The tones are very smooth, and even under my 15x loupe I can barely detect any grain pattern, even though the film is HP5+.

Lately I've been using Divided Pyrocat as a general purpose developer, shooting scenes of low and medium contrast. As you have pointed out, it's easy to add contrast during or after scanning: I added a bit to this one, since the lighting was as flat as it gets.

We're looking forward to your article

Here's another one from the same outing. Even during a snow storm, there can be too much contrast between the deepest shadows in the forest, and the sky. Here the developer straddled the whole range with ease. As usual, a bit of contrast was added to give a bit more depth.

This sort of photo is best appreciated at larger size, where we can see the fine details.

It looks like Rte 47 heading toward Amherst/Sunderland.

Right, thanks for the ID -- I was thinking either 202 or maybe Leverett Rd in Shutesbury. Either way, a familiar sight from wandering the area after dropping the youngster at UMass a few years ago.
