. . Near Walla Walla, Wa.
Trestle & local road near Walla Walla, Washington. Most of the rail lines serving the Columbia Basin wheat country have been abandoned, and the iconic grain elevators and small towns nearby have withered away.

Bad framing from bad eyes. I never saw the corners. Aimed in general direction. Shot yesterday between storms.

New friends, I will contact print 1 for each person. They are volunteers at the Historical Village. Ditto.

Rochester Optical Co. 5x7 Premo Sr. with modern 150mm triplet. I like this camera as it has an internal GG with tilt and swing which covers the DDS after inserting it. Very lightweight, 4.0 lbs with lens. Ries C tripod no head. TriX 320

First trial pictura with a quite battered and old Blair Folding Hawk-eye 5x7 (made c. 1892-1894!!), with a Bausch&Lomb Iris shutter. I have problems in attaching this camera to a tripod, so I have to use a chair, and the shutter is not reliable at all at nothing more than T mode. The rearside structure of the camera is flimsy, so there's potential for large light leaks. I hope to repair it as best as I could, retaining as much as possible of the original elements.

Shot in Cocke County TN in the heart of Appalachia around 2008. Without looking at the negs I’m going to say there shot on HP5 and processed in HC110B. I’m pretty sure I shot them with my Sinar Norma 5x7 and remember the lens was my 240 G Claron.

The gas station was shot in 1969 probably on my 5x7 Sinar Norma with a 210 convertible Symmar. Would have to look up the negs to see what film. The second image of the old gentleman was with my 5x7 Deardorff and 240 G Claron I think. The film was most likely HP5 in HC110B.

A very nice series--you must have great interpersonal skills (in addition to your obvious technical abilities)...some of that country around Del Rio and Cosby can be rough as a cob. On a not-unrelated note, it's striking to me that what you shot in 2008 could have easily come from 40-50 years earlier or even before--the first wages my grandfather ever made came from bucking slabs in a sawmill not too different than the one pictured here.
