Lets See Your Darkroom

I was searching the interwebs last week for pictures of darkrooms to use in a class I will teaching soon. I could hardly find one that didn't have multiple enlargers!

Well I have two - three if you count the little Bogen X-35 35mm model back at my parent's house in Tennessee, but I only have one set up in the darkroom. The other D2 is more for spare parts as it would need some work and cleaning up. Not a lot however - it could be done. I don't have the original lamphouse which I will put back on for printing color with CP filters but an LED one on it now for black and white.

If I had my dream darkroom I'd have a couple of 4x5s (or 5x7) one with a color head and one with a VC head, and at least one 8x10. But that isn't happening any time soon. I don't have room for them anyway, especially an 8x10 monster.

For my entire life I had only an ancient D2. Last year I built a horizontal 8x10 enlarger, but the D2 has been retired and is no longer in the darkroom. So I guess I only have one.

Just one DeVere 504 with a ZoneVI VC head, 50,80, and 150mm lenses, and carriers for 35, 120, and 4x5. I guess since I only print B&W, and have never tried "Uelsmann-like" multiples, one enlarger at a time has done the trick. Color goes into the scanner and digital workflow.

Mohammed, Very Nice!! Man, That sure is a Beautiful processor, I have a CPP2 and love it, I keep telling my wife when I retire I'm going to buy one of these. NOBODY makes a better piece of equipment than Jobo. I shoot film for a lot of reasons, one is I love working in my darkroom. That processor will still be running strong 30 years from now. Post more pictures as you go.

Beseler 23c and 45MX - super low ceilings so a drop table and the insulation cut out above the enlargers for more head room.

I moved 3 years ago. Took me 6 months to get up the courage to rebuild. I got lucky new place had a utility room with no windows. Now I'm back better than before. I've got 4x5 Beseler enlargers too. One is the Blue paint I bought new in 1973. Rebuild!

This time of year I always want to wander to new places. Sell my home and use a Cargo van as camper. I cannot do both. But then I would lose my first and last darkroom. I wonder if Wet Plate is the solution. I have done the year long road trip 3 times. Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. Miss you Janis!
