Wow, $350 USD at current exchange rates for what amounts to a hotplate with a thermostat. "They sure are proud of 'em" as we say here in the south. Still cheaper (and no doubt cheaper to ship across the pond too) than a Nova slot processor.

A few years ago a thread on this forum pointed the way to electric pads made for keeping livestock warm, specifically pigs. An on-line search turns up "pig warmers," "pig warmer pad," and "pig heating pad." One site has them for $49.00 each.

... Or one can put the tray over the pig to warm it - but in this case the pig have to have fever and stay quit - that's more affordable, or, depending where you are, can or can't be.
At the end, If it doesn't work, you can eat the pig. (Sorry couldn't resist with this pig story).
Cheers,
Thanks. Even the most deluxe pig warmer I found would work great - 18"x18" square would work great for up to a 16x20 tray I think, and has a thermostat to maintain anything between 40 and 105F in 2F increments. That one is $214 and I'm sure others would be cheaper but that's already way less.
Sorry for the ebay link, but you could ask your fish dealer (aquaristics) for something like this:

Heater for water beds will do the same; my old bed used such a system, my newer bed has a solid ceramic plate instead.
As Sinar-Horst has said before, to avoid damage to the heating plate, a very good contact between plate and tray is absolutely necessary, so maybe you have to build something which will guarantee this contact.
Thisadays I am interested in building a heating system for my sink, too; maybe it could be useable to heat the whole big sink with only one heating system ( something like a waterbed or a food heating system) and to put the trays onto this element.

Well after looking after all these images I don't feel guilty about having more than one enlarger.
