    Who Uses 5x12?

    Who here uses 5x12?
Do you have a dedicated camera (as opposed to a reducing back)? Which one? How do you acquire film? I don't think I've seen it on the yearly Ilford order. I suppose you can cut down 10x12? (which IS available through Ilford)...

I did for a little while, gave it up when I found the camera - a Canham - too fussy for my taste. I got my HP5 Plus through the Ilford annual special order - yes, they have offered 5x12.

There are a few out there. It is a wonderful size to work with and look at. I have a 5 x 12 print by Tillman Crane. Every time I look at it I say to may self the next time I build a 5 x 12 camera I am going to make one for myself. Then the little voice laughs and says you won't have it long remember the 7 x 11 you built for yourself and don't have any more.

I don't, but wish I could. Difficulties in getting filmholders have held me back from getting a 5X12 back for my Canham 5X7. Now, if there's someone out there in ether-land with a conversion back and filmholders sitting around ...

Agree with Richard regarding Tillman's 5X12 work; it's beautiful!

I have a print by Tillman (came with the book) and all of his books and I agree with you. So, what happened to your 7x11?

Colin's work is outstanding. I suspect that in his hands any format would strike one as wonderful.

Lois Conner used one in addition to her 7x17.
