Vaughn, thanks. I wasn't sure how this was going to look in carbon but wow! When you see the print you will see what I mean. I didn't have a long enough lens to get into the area where the cabbage leaves could be isolated. It kind of reminds me of a window to the past with the foreground out of focus. Great trail!
I'll be sure to bring it to Renaissance this year.

I could have sworn I answered this -- must have been in a different dimension...

Yosemite Renaissance is a multi-media annual competition/show in Yosemite Valley. Themed, but loosely...must relate to Yosemite and/or the Sierras. Images of some past shows and more info here:

    http://www.yosemiterenaissance.org/

Over 700 entries this year -- 42 pieces accepted. The show stays in Yosemite for a while, then moves throughout the Central Valley/Bay Area for a total of a year.

My second year in a row that I have not got a print in -- next year my entries will be killer!

Here a list of photographers who got images in I reconize a couple names:

    8. Robert Dayton, Moss Covered Tree, Fall, YNP, digital photograph, 12 x 18.
    9. Cynthia Debenedetti, November First Snows.
    12. Ira Estin, Buck in Snow, photograph, 16 x 20.
    14. Rheana Gardner, Yosemite in Winter, inkjet print from Holga camera, 24 x 24.
    16. John Harrison, Reflections of El Capitan at Sunset, photograph, 24 x 36.
    18. Michael Katz, Winter Oaks in Fog, photograph, 9 x 23.
    22. Ken Marcus, Dogwoods, Fern Springs, photograph, 16 x 20.
    25. Jon McCormack, Vernal Falls in Summer, photograph, 24 x 16.
    29. William Neill, Willow in Snowstorm, Sierra Nevada Foothills, photograph, 16 x 24.
    33. Nancy Robbins, Snow Babies, photograph, 13 x 19.
    34. Anne W. Rosenfeld, Autumn Blush, inkjet print on fine art paper, 13 x 20.
    35. Anne W. Rosenfeld, Autumn Flush, inkjet print on fine art paper, 20 x 13.
    36. Hugh Sakols, Snow on Firs, archival pigment print, 12 x 18.

Seems like images of snow were hot this year -- you never know.

    Vaughn

PS...the entries are juried by a local committee, and then a judge or two are brought in to determine awards.
