    In my research, I found that many SF makers suggested that the lens should be about 2X the normal focal length for any given format. If thats the case here, it would make sense that the suggested focal length and coverage for a given format are very different... Just a thought

    I think you all know it already, but there are two versions of Perscheid`s. I have 480mm in both Triplet and Aplanat designs. Those are not the same optically giving different results.

    I have triplet and aplanat, both named same way - Perscheid Objektiv - maybe later versions were renamed to Portrait?

    Had 210mm Covers 5x7 for sure, almost 8x10 @ infinity

    My copy of aplanat version is ugly, but still nice optically. This is the brass one. Someone striped the paint in the past. The black one is a Trioplan. Trioplan is smaller and lighter physically. It has 3 elements in 3 groups, as for instance Cooke anastigmats ser II. Aplanat is 2+2 symmetrical.
