    What lens do I have?

    Hi Folks,

    I recently bought a Calumet CALTAR-S II 240mm lens for my 8x10 camera.

    The lens takes 86mm filters. Looking at the various lens spec. databases out there, the only 240mm lens that takes 86mm filters is the APO-Sironar S.

    Is this really true? Anyone care to shed some light (no pun intended)??

    I forgot to mention that lens is in a Copal 3 shutter if that helps in ID'ing it.

    More likely a Schneider Symmar-S, I think (also 86mm thread). See specs here. The Rodenstocks are generally labeled Caltar II-N.

    The Caltar II-S is a Rodenstock APO-Sironar-N, and the Caltar S-II is a Schneider Symmar-S. There was never a Caltar lens that was an APO-Sironar-S.

    The 240/5.6 Symmar-S takes 86mm filters, too.
