    Greetings from Amsterdam

    Hey,

I just bought my first Graphic View a view weeks ago. The reason I bought this camera was cheap and it had a lens without a shutter. It's a 12" Dallmeyer lens. I'm a novice with large format photography.

As a photographer I'm experienced with the Mamiya C330 and as cinematographer I'm experienced with Super8. But as I'm learning at the moment Large Format is something completely different.

Welcome to group therepy! The Graphic View is an excellent camera that will do whatever you need a view to do. It might have been easier to deal with a lens with a shutter to begin with (I'm assumming here that it doesn't have a Packard shutter behind the lens board), but if you keep your f/stops small, a hat will do fine as a shutter most of the time...when you're exposing for a few seconds, counting them off is accurate enough. Have fun...you'll get used to thinking upside-down fast enough!
