I have always thought of the Verito as a lens for a 65+ year old and the Pinkham as a lens for a 20-65 year old.

Thanks for doing this exercise, Jim. Very informative to see the two lenses compared in this manner. If you didn't have the two to compare side by side, it'd be difficult to say one was superior to the other. As you say, in terms of resolution of important details, the P&S clearly excels. But the Verito has that bit of motion blur in the background that is very appealing too. Too bad ya can't have the best of both lenses!
The Verito came in around 1913, and stuck around through the late 30s at least, and continued as the Veritar through the late 50's. By comparison, P&S was a flash in the pan, going through a number of designs in half that time, produced in relatively small numbers.
But you know, Pinkham & Smith...

And as always, lovely images, Jim! A true pleasure to see your work again!

I sure wish that all of the pixies were collected online somewhere so that one at least could see them - they are photobucket shadows of their former selves these days. They have always been an inspiration to me. As is many of the P&S photographs here in this thread. Keep'em going!

I've been slowly rebuilding the pixie thread, replacing the Photobucket links with Flickr links, but still have a few to go. It kinda took the wind out of my sails when Photobucket went from "free forever, we promise" to "$400 per year or else". Perhaps the saddest thing about this forum is haw few images survive in the old threads. The internet is not forever after all.
But I'm still working. They just don't make it onto the web very often...

Mark, I've been paying $6.50 a month since late 2001 rent fee to have my junk live in a server somewhere that I have some control over. It may go dark some day also, but so far, (some might say for better and many might say for worse) my stuff survives when I post and link to my storage place. Just did the math. $1400 over 18 years so I can torture people with MY pictures ;~'()
