Just matted and framed this. Printed it a while back, bit it took time to get use to it and decide if I liked it.

    5x7 Platinum/palladium print.

I'm digging this one--very much a TJ Cooper vibe, tiptoeing up to the edge of the abstract. I'm also intrigued by the strong blacks--not something I associate with Pt/Pd prints.

Thank you. Looking at the print, I am afraid my light-weight image processing program and skills have darkened the lower values some. The print does contain some deep blacks, but smaller areas than appear on my screen.

Here is another attempt. There is a little glare from the glass over the print, but this might give you a better idea of the tonality.

Ha, thanks for elaborating--my tastes run toward the Romantic, so I always take my D-max where I find it. (IIRC Sandy King has done some work with toned VDB's that seem mighty interesting in that regard--much to explore in the New Year!)

Dang -- always like Monty Python references...

I wonder how long the boys have been missing hands? Thomas, would you normally display this with the brush marks?

Edited: They (the boys' right arms) were missing from the original when found. Now I know.

Here are a couple lions I have shown before... a couple originals in the Arizona sun. I do not know the history of the hole in one's side. Certainly relatively recent cast iron beasts in comparison (late 1800s, installed 1908...although they may pre-date the damaged replica in the link, which was installed in the 1930s).

Salt print from a 5x7 negative...some mottling in the right hand sky area...but the best of the process I have been able to do with too little experience. I managed to get a pretty good 8x10 of one of my boys -- but completely failed trying to get two good copies of the other boys to match it. Ended up printing them in platinum/palladium instead.

    Polaroid Type 55 expired film
The film was processed with the almost dried chemical, by rolling the pack roughly with an empty beer bottle on ground.
