    San Diego photographs

I am visiting there next week for the first time and would like to see any photographs you have of San Diego and the surrounding area. Any suggestions you might have for a good location for a sunrise/sunset location would be greatly appreciated.

    Gary,

I assume that you found a lens board for the 135 Nikon, and you are planning on shooting with the Tachi.

No shortage of places to photograph sunrise/sunset scenes in San Diego. Just set up in one of the many waterfront areas.

Try to include a visit to the photo museum in Balboa Park, if you have the time. It's been several years, but I think it's still there.

There are a couple of locations around the bay that make a nice sunset / dusk shot of the city skyline. You would need a pretty long lens.

The Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park has a comprehensive exhibit of Ansel Adam's life work going on right now.

I got a kick out of the maritime museum---there's lots of cool ships. Check if tripods are allowed on the decks first though.

If Triple Espresso is still running at the Horton Grand be sure to catch a perfprmance!

For great seafood, Anthony's is the place. There is a location on the waterfront between the maritime mueum and the cruise ship docks. We eat at the "dinette," a walk up window with tables outside.

There is also a juried exhibition called the Best of Nature at the Natural History Museum, also in Balboa Park. The show is not entirely large format, but one of my photographs (which *is* large format) from Joshua Tree National Park was accepted into this show. It is now open, and runs through September 13. The Artist Reception is on Saturday, July 11, 2009, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you come to the reception, track me down and say hello!

Balboa Park, tons of opportunities there:

    The Embarkadero:

    Mission Trails:

So many places, you'll find yourself with so little time. Other places to think about:

    Seaport Village
    The Gaslamp
    Mission Hills (architect)
    Pt. Loma
    The Beaches

And then there's the back country!

And, and, and...there's so many fine places to eat!
