De Vere 5108 front panel illumination

When replacing two of the four 300W 120V lamps present in the DeVere 5108 colour head I noticed a small bayonet fitting for a bulb, presumably linked to the switch on the front of the head, used to illuminate the front panel. Assuming the bulb is mains voltage (240V), has anyone had experience of what wattage the socket is designed for, i.e. 15W or 25W?

If it is the same bulb as the one on my 504 then it is [from memory] a 6v. I had to hunt to get the correct one. P.J Wight in Adelaide had one.

If you can remove the bulb safely it will have the voltage and wattage on the glass or the bayonet. Often very small printing.

Note to self -- read carefully. There may not be a bulb ib the holder.

    Steve,

The DeVere 5108 head runs at mains voltage but I suppose there may be a small transformer for the front panel lamp. There is no lamp installed at the moment.

I used a flashlight bulb to replace mine. I think it is 6v. There is a small transformer that feeds it beside one of the intake fans (at least that is where it is on the 504 and 507). The transformer does nothing else.

The 5108 colour dichroic head doesn't use a transformer for the main enlarger light source (two sets of two 120V lamps). I.e. the power supply is a switching unit not a Transtab as used on the DeVere 504 units. Perhaps a further investigation is needed...

Are you sure it's not a transformer? Mine huge, I thought it was a stabilising transformer.

Like you I need to investigate those small bulbs
