Nice images, Bryan and Patrick. Gotta love those southeast river names. I'm a mediocre whitewater kayaker in the west, and am always amused by the names of the rivers and creeks they run back there, and the branches and prongs (we call them forks out here ).

    Thanks !

My wife once starred in a community theatre production of "The Great American Trailer Park Musical," set in a fictional town in Florida. They made fun of the names of rivers/towns by setting one scene in a place called, as near as I can possibly remember without having my wife say it back 10 times, "Okanobi-wackaweehokah-chackachickahoochee" .

I think I grew up near there.

North Florida has some odd place names, mostly from local Indian names. Chatahoochee, Sopchoppy, Ochlockonee, Steinhatchee-- and then there's "Two Egg" (no, really).

But my favorite is Estiffanulga, frequently called "Stiff 'n ugly".

For Alan Klein: Beautiful image, I'm glad to see that you have become familiar with using your Chamonix! Definitely an image to hang on your wall!
