    Bryan I would find myself so tempted to do a bit of wading - to give that log a bit of a (careful!) push...as I'd be very curious to see if it might somehow reposition itself as a nice diagonal upon those spillway steps, and how the falling water would then behave as it made its way around it. Not that I'm typically one to mess with the order of things mind you...but still!

    But perhaps, at least (assuming logistical feasibility)...you might re-visit this location after a storm or two?

    Lock Etive is such a beautiful place it is hard not to take a bad photograph.
    As AA said of Yosemite - your only problem is where to point the camera.
