    Question Lens Board question

hi there this may be a stupid question but it has been bugging me for sometime, what are the reasons for recessed lens boards? is it for easier focusing with certain lenses and if so what ones? or is it a question of movements with certain lenses, and if so, again what ones, or something as simple as allowing to fold up a field camera with the lens attached?

any help will be welcome as it will put my mind at rest

It moves the lens further back. Helps use wider lenses then the camera could handle with a flat board.

I use a 90mm on a standard board with no problem. You should be fine.

    Tom-Bob,

FYI from B&H Wista 45DXII features description:

"This camera body will accommodate short focal lenses up to 65mm without the aid of a recessed lens board."

Quite correct Darr, I use a 65mm SA on my Wista 45DXII on a standard board with no problems.
