If i understand correctly, i need to buy a filter holder
and the adaptor ring. The adaptor ring must have the size
of my lens, which is 40.5 mm, but i do not find this size
in their catalogue. What's wrong?

Alternatively i could buy a single 40.5mm ND filter (cheaper),
but does it fit ANY lens (from digital cameras to LF) of that diameter??

Ps. What does it mean that the image circle of the lens is 135 at infinity??

Exactly what lens are you using? The filter size for an Apo Sironar S is 49mm.

If you want to use fixed filters instead of the interchangeable and adjustable system filters, then, yes they should fit any camera.

It means that 135mm is the largest diameter of image that will be correctly exposed, without vignetting. If you are exposing 4x5 film, this is not big enough as the minimum is around 156mm without allowing for any movements.

Is this by any chance a macro version of the lens?

The lens is Rodenstock APO Ronar 150 F9...and yes i checked right now
and it looks like a macro lens, though i do not find it written anywhere.

So this means its good for portrait and will probably be very sharp
but not even usable for landscape?

This lens was made to work best at 1:1 (macro) with 4x5 but will only cover 6cm x 9cm at infinity.

So this means its good for portrait and will probably be very sharp but not even usable for landscape?

This means that, unless you are shooting something at around 150mm from the lens, you will not get full coverage. Even portraits will not be possible.

Your lens is actually a small version of a copy lens. At 1:1 magnification, which is appropriate usage, the image diameter will be twice that at infinity, so no problem.

It is a very sharp lens. For portraits, in moving in close enough to fill 4" x 5", you might find yourself up against the big nose problem.

I also have a 150 f4.5 xenar, but it seems there is no preview lever, nor
i can see how the shutter lever works...hope you can solve this dilemma...

So it can be used ONLY for 1:1 magnification? I have used it for the following
portrait, i dont see any vignetting, the top left corner is darker due to the light..
or there is something im missing...
