Tony,
Thanks for chipping in. I stand corrected with the speeling, for my English makes some Welsh name places sound the same....it is from above the shores of Llyn y Gader. I was staying for a week in Rhyd Ddu. I walked left towards the rail station, crossed the road, started on the path around Llyn y Gader that winds it's way to Beddgelert and then went uphill at some point. The big peak to the left is Y Garn (Nantlle ridge) and I am sure the distant hill is Mynydd Mawr. It overlooks Llyn Cwellyn. Lovely part of the world.

Graham, I stand corrected twice ,1] I had finger trouble with Natlle [the double ll is correct not ile] 2]I assumed the image was taken from the wild camp Llyn y Gader, but reading your last message it seemed it was taken a long way from there. Yes, looking towards Mynydd Mawr from circa Lyn Ogwen/Llyn Idwal area then certainly Y Garn is in the foreground with Mynydd Mawr in the distance.
By the way Welsh is a terrible language to learn as you get older. My knowledge of Welsh is extremely limited in spite of trying to learn it for six years. Our granddaughters are bilingually fluent in English and Welsh together with good knowledge of French. With English, they use Welsh pronunciation and syllable bias which gives an interesting and amusing lilt.

Tony
Thank you John.
