I am curious about the above two posts. I personally think the foreground in Brandon's image looks great, with lots of lively, even if dark tones in the foreground. However, I did notice something. I took the image into PS and immediately it looked differently. The reason is, the embedded profile was different than what was being displayed in the web browser.

First, I would personally recommend to Brandon to edit and save scans for web use in sRGB, so that the browser isn't mucking with the image. Secondly, I wonder if different browsers are giving radically different "conversions," hence the dark comments. Of course there's always the issue of monitor calibration and brightness, both for the photographer and viewer.

For a long time I tended to edit scans too bright, and so I have trended darker in the past year, so perhaps my view is biased.
I use both Safari and Chrome and there was a time when each browser rendered color differently. It was annoying. Not sure it's still the case.

On my monitor (a Sun Microsystems GDM 5420), the image in question looks darker than the others on the LFPF. If it gets re-posted with the sRGB color space, I can see if there is a difference between it and the original one.

I calibrate my monitors and printers and when I save jpgs to post, I convert to sRGB and do a soft proof. But I have found that when I upload to flickr as an example, it seriously mucks with the image whether color or black and white. What gives? I have my main site on Zenfolio and they do not appear to monkey with your images, ie what goes in is what comes out, nothing in between.

Any way to modify the board to post images from Zenfolio like we do from flickr? They have the embedded code, but doesn't work on here. It is similar to the flickr code, but different.

Steven, I use Zenfolio and post images to this forum. Click on Share>Get the embed code>BBCode Select the image size, then copy the text in the box. Paste text in this forum reply box.

Okay, I didn't see the little button at the bottom after selecting get code.
