I'm definitely digging the second, horizontal shot--but for me, the picture is "about" the crepuscular rays and the trees emerging out of the highlights...instead of shaving off the top, I'd look at a square crop, tightening the lighter rock on the right side of the frame.

. Will definitely play with things in the DR...might need to bust out my last little bit of 20x24 paper...

Thanks Jon! Good idea jp - though a 210mm lens is a little hard to use in such a confined space

. I've still been practicing w/ the Verito, just not getting great images, yet (my fault, not the lens!).

I went all-in with this image last night and made a 20x24 print.

Three images from a damp, overcast day in the Peak District National Park back in January (click for larger). All were taken in the woods around Ladybower Reservoir, where I spent most of the day, in the area near the Yorkshire Bridge Inn.

1) Chamonix 045N-2, Nikon 300m f9@f32, 12s, Ilford Delta 100; here I'm looking down through the trees towards the lake which is reflecting the overcast sky. Patterns reminded me of a Chinese line drawing!
