I used Kodachrome exclusively for as long as I could get it, first in 120 rolls, later in 35mm as that was all that was left. Mine was among the final batches processed by Duane's the year after Kodak discontinued it completely. My guess is that beyond the cost and issues around the chemistry required, Velvia had a large part in killing it off, I know I went in that direction for a few years and found it superior for grey, rainy, or green landscapes, while Kodak was better at natural colors, people, and drier terrain.

It was sad to see it go, I'd still be shooting it today if it were still available.

That is how quickly the light changes at the Canyon. I can take 5 shots within 10 minutes and each one will be different. I was also pointed about 45 degrees to the right from the previous shot.

The crested saguaro is a rare "fellow being" of the Sonoran Desert. A Garnegiea Gigantea unicorn if you will. Having lived in Arizona all my life, this is the first crested saguaro I've seen in person. It was a special treat to photograph.

Excellent. It looks like (almost) like a PS creation....really unusual.
