    Washington Column - Yosemite

I had an absolute bitch of a time getting this composition. A little further to my right would have been better but the Merced was well over my head at that point and I struggled to keep the camera and tripod propped-up on the boulders along the shoreline and out of the water. Carleton Watkins had an easier time of it but that viewpoint is no longer available: https://www.denverartmuseum.org/en/object/1991.389 Taken with the 150mm Apo Sironar.

Nice shot. Glad you didn't drown. Looks like Watkins had an easier time of it. Sometimes you just have to be lucky.

    Benjamin,

I like the tonal range in this image and focus on various lines within. Curious why you set Portra at ISO 100? Reminds of Morley Baer who seems to me to have improved tonal range and reduced oversaturation with this method.

    Very nice job.

However overall I doubt Watkins had an easier time of it - considering the stuff he was working with and hauling around.

I’ve heard about this park with those pods. I’ll have to visit.
