Saguaro, Mexico. Early DIY 5x7 woody, 210 Sironar-N, Orange filter, FP4 (early version) ABC pyro

Love that Unicorn, by the way - top reminds me of the Euphorbias I saw in certain areas of Ethiopia, where they would often surround living compounds to protect from wildlife.

Funny thing I encountered while photographing saguaros...on a clear, bright, absolutely still day - was that every few seconds some of them would "resonate" for a few seconds at a time, the intermittent movements being left over from high winds earlier in the day. So my timing had to be perfect - otherwise my images would not be needle-sharp (ouch!).

Me too Steven! Been there many a time, never quite happy with what I come back with. Good excuse to keep returning :-)

Beautiful. Love the tones in this. Someone gave me a box of Ilford 8x10 recently, my dream is to replicate this kind of tonality.

Well, I don't usually salvage a color image by making it bw, but in this case it sorta did. By far, not the best, but it does highlight just how difficult it is to shoot the Grand Canyon. Didn't clean up the dust spots from scan.

Sunset Storm at Cape Royal, Grand Canyon North. 4x5 Portra160. The colors that evening looked weird and the image looks just as weird.
